It's Time to End Our Sufferings ― CAA

Nowadays, politicians have made us so blind and dumb that we don't understand the real motive behind the decisions taken by them. They have conquered our minds and we have lost the ability to think freely. We have become the sheep following them and they are Shepherds taking us to grave.

There is a wave of Rapes and Murders in India, we get to know about some of them while thousands are still under the carpet. And some often include our chosen representatives. But we are silent. Unemployment has become a nationwide trend. Thousands have become jobless and are in adverse conditions, can't even fulfill their basic necessities. But we are still silent. Inflation, Economic Slowdown, destructive decisions like Demonetization, GST and now Citizenship Amendment Act, where are the so-called "Good Days" as promised by the government. People of India don't have resources for themselves and now this government for vote bank, are giving citizenship to outsiders based on religious discrimination done on Muslims through this act. After this NRC is waiting for them, which will again be an axe on them.

They suppress voices that are raised against them and have bought media to push their agenda in our minds. This government doesn't worry about us. They just want to remain in power or acquire power somehow. We chose them to serve us, give us basic facilities which would aid us in living our life and reduce our difficulties. But the opposite of that is happening. They are harassing us in every way possible. We are going down day by day. They are hitting our minds and have made us vulnerable. They are sucking us like a leech. Is this the India our freedom fighters dreamt of, we dream of? All this is happening around us but still, we are silent, when are we going to protest against them?
TIME HAS COME TO WAKE UP AND FIGHT FOR OUR BASIC NECESSITIES, OUR BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS. WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA MUST UNITE AND SHOULD OVERTHROW THE POLITICIANS WHO CHEATED US AND USED US AS A TOOL TO FILL THEIR POCKETS.
IT'S TIME TO END OUR SUFFERINGS.

What are Institutes of Eminence - and controversy related to Jio

We all know the quality of higher Educational Institutes of India. None of the Indian Institutes has been able to secure a place in the top 200 institutes of the World Institutes Rankings.

UGC grants tag of Institute of Eminence

To improve this, the Ministry of Human Resource and Development has introduced a scheme to set up 20 Institutes of Eminence out of which, ten will be public and the other ten will be private institutes. These institutes should have a proper plan to rank in the Global 500 rank within the next 10 years.

How many institutes will be chosen as Institutes of Eminence?

A total of 20 institutes would be chosen to be the institutes of eminence. Out of them, 10 will be public while the other 10 will be private institutes.

MHRD proposes 6 names for Institutes of Eminence

What benefits will be given to these institutes?

The government will grant some benefits to the institutes chosen. The public institutes will be given complete autonomy and a fund of Rs 1,000 crores, while the private institutes will be given complete autonomy from stringent government regulations.

Here is a small list of the incentives offered to the Institutes of Eminence:

a. The Institutions of Eminence would be free to admit additionally foreign students on merit subject to a maximum of thirty percent of the strength of admitted domestic students.
b.   The Institutions of Eminence would be free to fix and charge fees from foreign students without restriction.
c.    The Institutions of Eminence would have the freedom to determine the domestic student fees, subject to the condition that no student who gains admission should be turned away for lack of finance. This should be accompanied by a credible programme of scholarships and loans to ensure that the needy are able to pursue higher studies without any financial problems.
d.   The Institutions of Eminence shall have complete flexibility in fixing of curriculum and syllabus, with no UGC mandated curriculum structure.

e.    The Institutions of Eminence will have the freedom to offer online courses as part of their programmes with the restriction that not more than twenty percent of the programme should be in online mode. However, this twenty percent restriction would not preclude the Institutions from offering certificate courses entirely through online mode.

Read the full list here.

What is the selection criteria to be an Institute of Eminence?

The institutes had to present their reports with an action plan along with timelines stating what they wish to achieve. They also need to report the milestones they seek to achieve in a period of 5 years and 15 years.

Here are a few things expected from a government controlled institute to get the IoE tag:

  • It should preferably be multi-disciplinary and have both teaching and research focus of an exceptionally high quality.
  • Apart from the regular courses, it should also offer various inter-disciplinary courses, including in areas of emerging technology and interest as well as those of relevance to the development concerns of countries like India.
  • It should have a good proportion of foreign or foreign qualified faculty. Institutions which succeed in mobilizing a broadly diverse national and international academic staff are likely to maximize knowledge capacity.
Read the full list here

Which are the first institutes chosen to be given the IoE tag?

In the first round of selection, the MHRD gave the tag of IoE to IIT Mumbai, IIT Delhi and IISc Bengaluru, and BITS PilaniManipal University, and Jio Institute.

prakash javdekar's tweet on Institutes of Eminence

Why was Jio chosen as an Institute of Eminence?

Jio Institute was chosen over many other private institutes including Krea University in Tamil Nadu, which has Raghuram Rajan as an advisor, and Vedanta University in Odisha. Even the established and famed Indian School of Business Hyderabad was passed over.

why was jio chosen to be an Institute of Eminence

Reasons for choosing the Jio Institute

  • Other applicants did not own land and were negotiating with the government for tax exemption. On the other handJio had land (Reliance started acquiring land in 2003 [source]) and was soon going to start building the required infrastructure.
  • Jio Institute has proper funds to manage the institute and achieve the required milestones.
  • The primary goal is to secure a rank in the Global institutes rankings. Jio Institute presented a well-formed report on their plans to achieve the results. This went to their side.

Was Jio's money chosen over other well-established institutes?

According to the VC of a famous university, setting up an academic institute requires an enormous amount of money. And to bring it in the Global 500 rankings requires even more resources. So, it is not unreasonable to focus on the net worth of the promoters of the institute.

How to spot a Narcissist and Deal with Him

how to spot a narcissist

It’s fair to love oneself, love all the flaws and glitches of the personality. Some people do it relatively lesser, others do it a little extra and a handful of people just do it the right amount. There is no harm if you fit in either of the three.

However, it becomes a hitch when it is done excessively and unreasonably. It can also become a medical condition. Such human specimen is known as a narcissist, an egoist. It is difficult to have a conversation with these people as such people like to talk about themselves more. The tete-tete is generally one-sided and the other person usually gets a mix of frustration and it rubs the wrong. It gets worse if such a personality type is your mother, father or the person you are dating.

Henceforth are the ways to handle a narcissist:

  • Spot a narcissist

Firstly you need to make a differentiation whether the person has a dominating personality or is a narcissist personality. A dominating person would not necessarily be emotionally unavailable. On the other side, a narcissist is self-centered and emotionally unavailable. He tends to hurt other people and not truly acknowledges his fault after it.

  • Be a good listener

A narcissist needs to be heard too. He/she is probably suffering from low self-esteem and self-worth issues and needs constant validation.
Remember they presumptively are not looking for lots of inputs and advocacy so refrain the urge of providing them one. They will eventually feel at ease with you and put their guard off little by little.

  • Put your needs forward too

Its overwhelming being with a narcissist and it is highly likely your mind is predominantly occupied understanding them. In such cases, it is organic to put your needs out of the window. Sooner or later it will take a toll on you and the relationship you share with that person.

  • Subtly imply your disagreement and opinions

One needs to make compromises and take a back seat while dealing with a narcissist. But if it is clashing with your fundamental self and principles convey it to them. Do it in less aggressive and intense tone. For eg. If you are busy at work and cannot talk to the person, faintly tell them you cannot wait to get back home from the hectic day at work. This would not put him/her away.

  • Accept the fact you cannot change them

You need to know it is difficult for a narcissist to open up and wholly trust people. They do not even consider the sermons and guidance of people. Narcissists tend to be strong headed and independent and immensely stubborn. It will land you up in muds of frustration to try and change them.

  • Stay positive

You should never feel handling them as a burden. It should be inherent. Avoid seeing them as a victim and acknowledge the differences among you both. Focus on the positives of the other person. Maybe being so confident and opinionated attracted you towards them at first place. Embrace it.

  • Seek professional help

Sometimes a narcissist is a byproduct of either or both likewise parents. It is difficult to understand a person in adulthood when it routes to some unresolved issues due to such parents in childhood.

Consider seeking a professional help in the form of psychotherapy or cognitive behavioral therapy.

10 Scariest Theories Known to Man

Scariest theories known to man, rokos basilik misotheism, brain in a vat

Science gives you theories. Really boring ones. Philosophy tells you stories. Even more boring. But when they get together, it gets really interesting. Or scary.
Read along at your own risk because each theory you read will increase your heart beat. You might end up thinking about these theories the whole night. Take care.

1. Roko’s Basilik

Warning: Reading this may commit you to an eternity of suffering and torment.

Roko's Basilik is an evil AI that could retroactively punish those who did not help bring about its existence. You may die due to all the torture, but death is not the end. Because it can resurrect you to torture again.

To save yourself from his fury, you have to devote your life to bring about his existence.

This thought experiment first came out on the website LessWrong, which gave many of its users nightmares. The founder of LessWrong, Eliezer Yudkowsky, had to finally delete the thread to seize the horror.

Roko's Basilik offers you two boxes and you can choose either of them.
Roko's basilik - One of the scariest theories on CentreStage

So, if you do nothing and Roko's Basilik comes into existence, you might end up suffering.

But if the all-powerful AI sees that this type of blackmailing can get you help for making its existence, then it will always be blackmailing you.

Now you have a choice. Since you have now read about it, the Roko's Basilik will keep a watch on you! But don't get blackmailed, even though you risk yourself a hell lot of suffering.

    2. Higher Dimensional beings

    Hey! Yes, you!

Do not look back. They are watching you! They are breathing over your neck.

Didn't see them? You can't. Because they are beings from higher dimensions.

Higher dimensional beings - second scariest theory on CentreStage

Ever felt as if someone's under your bed at night?

You're not wrong. They watch you change clothes, sleep and read this. And you can't do anything to stop them.

The theory of Higher dimensional beings says that there are creatures from higher dimensions, different from us humans who live in a three-dimensional world.

Taking an example, if you draw Mr Mike on a paper, then his life is in this two-dimensional world. Mr Mike can talk to Mrs Mike but they will never know about you.

Similarly, higher dimensional beings might be watching us from a different dimension which we can't perceive.

    3. Last Thursdayism

According to this theory, the Universe was created last Thursday and was made to look as if it is billions of years old. Literally, everything in this universe, your bed, phone, this list, were all created last Thursday and all your memories before last Thursday were fed to your brain.

The debate whether Last Thursdayism is true continues since its inception Last Thursday.

If someone (maybe God) placed memories of the past in your brain, then it would appear to you that you remember that thing happening. Since Last Thursdayism can explain anything, it seems like an unfalsifiable hypothesis.

Last Thursdayism - third scariest theory on CentreStage

However, this theory makes a lot of assumptions which make it unnecessarily complex. Occam’s Razor, another theory, says that one should not make assumptions more than the necessary minimum.

But Last Thursdayism is scary. Your parents aren’t yours, they are made to look as such. And the girl you proposed last month; no dear! You never did. Wait! Whose child are you playing with?

    4. Brain in a vat

So now you have read all those scary theories given above. Are you sure? Or is your brain made to think like that?

You must be knowing that our brain is the centre of all consciousness and it functions on electrical impulses. The outer world ‘simulates’ or influences the brain to react, resulting in actions which are again sent in the form of electrical impulses.

Are you sure you know that? Or are you made to think like that? Are you sure you are not hallucinating?

Because your brain could actually be in a vat of a liquid containing all essential nutrients to keep it alive. The nerves could be connected to a supercomputer which would provide electrical impulses to your brain.

Brain in a vat - fourth scariest theory on CentreStage

So maybe you are just dreaming that this is a theory.

    Can you disprove it?

    No.

Because one can never know whether his brain is in a skull or a vat. And this is the scariest part.

    5. False Vacuum

Before you start reading the theory, let me acquaint you with Quantum field and energy levels.

Quantum fields and their interaction is this world. And according to physics, every field in nature has some energy level and everything tries to be at the lowest possible energy level. For fields, this state is called ‘vacuum state.’

So, everything tends to zero state and hence is stable, right?

Maybe not. Because a field, called Higgs field tends to a non-zero value. This field is responsible for giving everything their mass.

So, what if Higgs field exists in a false vacuum? What if it could reach a lower energy level but there is a barrier in the way?

False vacuum - fifth scariest theory on CentreStage

What will happen if it gets some amount of energy and reaches true vacuum? Just as everything else in physics- it would release an enormous amount of energy.

And, since this field is responsible for giving mass to objects, the new vacuum state would create totally different particle – a completely different reality from what we see now. We would not be able to exist in that world.

Wait! Energy! That enormous energy would be enough to kill us, and the entire universe. What if this has happened somewhere already, and is reaching us at the speed of light?

    6. Misotheism

Read this at your own risk because I am going to tell you a TRUTH that will shake each bone of your BODY!

Imagine, the most morally good person you know of like kalam or Gandhi. What do you think their afterlife would have been like? Enjoying in heaven! And think of afterlife of Hitler, burning in hell? But wait, do you have a proof? What if it is just the opposite?

Misotheism - sixth scariest theory on CentreStage

You have a friend who spent all his life doing good. Helping others, empathizing with the pain of others and feeding the poor. You bless him that God will always help him. But, what if God is malevolent? What if he punishes the people who do good and reward those whom the world hates?

Ever felt that doing good never did well for you? Or that good people always suffer?
Maybe the reason is that God is malevolent. Maybe he doesn't want his children to be happy. That's why he sent Adam and Eve to Earth. To suffer.

God just wants to destroy our freedom and treat us like his slaves and make us subservient! He loathes us and want us to suffer and even rewards those who make humankind suffer!
So now are you going to worship him or return the favour by loathing him?

    7. Fermi paradox

Are we alone in the universe?

Right now, we have no direct evidence of any other civilization or contact with an extraterrestrial race.Should we keep looking? How big is the chance of finding "someone else"? Is there someone? And if so, why don't we see anyone?

Fermi paradox - seventh scariest theory on CentreStage

There are around 100 billion stars in our Galaxy. And an equal number of galaxies in the observable universe. That counts to 10^22 total stars. Even if we say that there are only 1% Sun-like star, then this comes to 10^20. The number of Earth-like planets can also be taken to be 1% of that. This comes to 10^18.
This means that there are 180 Earth-like planets for every grain of sand on Earth.

Now imagine that 1% of those planets develop life and 0.1% of them develop intelligent life. Even then the number goes to 10^15 intelligent species.

If you follow this line of thinking, you may find yourself wondering:

    Where is everyone?

And that's my friend is Fermi paradox!!

    8. Great Filter Theory

DON'T PLAN SOMETHING FOR NEXT YEAR!!!

CHANCES are that YOU WON'T SEE NEXT YEAR
Because there is something that is going to happen to all of us and it has the power to destroy our world and kill anyone

There is a theory of great filter that states that there is some step in the process from 'bare lifeless planet' to 'galaxy faring civilizations' that is very hard.

According to Robin Huson, there are nine steps in the evolution of life on earth in which there is a step which is impossible to pass. It is an explanation of why can't we detect evidence of other intelligent civilization. The great filter posits that every civilization that attains a certain level of development destroys itself.

    The great filter theory

What is scary about it is we are clueless about the fact that the great filter is ahead of us or we have successfully passed it? If the step is ahead of us we should be extremely careful with certain kind of experimentation that we do not fully understand. It is like living in the fear that maybe this moment or day or year is the last one that we may experience!

    9. Coronal Mass Ejection

What if there is sudden lack of technology for a week or possibly for a decade?
    Sounds scary, isn't it?
    Why would such event happen?

The theory of earth being attacked by coronal mass ejection which is the expulsion of a large amount of plasma with its own magnetic field from corona, outer atmosphere of the sun, blown into space in a random direction. This is associated with enormous changes and disturbance in the coronal magnetic field. The plasma from a CME moves across vast distance of interplanetary space and propagates like an expanding magnetic cloud.By the time a cloud of plasma reaches earth, it is often millions of miles across and moving around 1500 km/hr.

Coonal Mass Ejection - ninth scariest theory on CentreStage

A direct CME hit has the potential to disrupt radio transmission, cause damage to satellites and electrical transmission line facilities

All transportation, medical, ATM, military, national security water pump and everything essential will come to standstill and we can just sit and see the complete disruption of lives!

    10. Quantum Immortality

Quantum immortality is an idea in which it is put forward that the conscious stays alive even though the conscious being dies in one universe.

It is related to the concept of quantum suicide.

    Consider Schrodinger's cat.
The standard interpretation is that the cat exists in the superposition of being both dead and alive and once you open the box the state of superposition collapse into either of the two states.

However, the many world interpretation is that both outcomes are played in different universe it means that in one universe cat dies and in another it lives.

Quantum immortality - tenth scariest theory on CentreStage

Quantum immortality says that you are immortal but not in the same universe.
    Sounds great right?

But wait, It does not tell you in which circumstance you will survive!

Maybe you will be blind for 8 gazillion years or you will be confined to a wheel chair for eternity. You will realize over and over again that your line of events matter to you and you alone and that your loved ones probably don't even know you in other universe but you will see them having horrible deaths in that universe and can do nothing about it.

I hope that you are still there. If you got a chill down your spine, make sure to share it with your friends and react.

Comment down your emotions, which is the scariest theory according to you?.

Why is 1 divided by 0 not defined?

Ever thought why is division by zero not defined?
Well, mathematicians are not lazy. They tried it and finally came to a conclusion.

Watch the video explaining why division by zero is not defined:

This video was first posted by Eddie Woo on his YouTube channel. We thank him for this amazing video.
